Editorial & Review Policy

Our Mission

ConsumersWeek publishes educational and comparison content designed to help readers understand how consumer products and services actually work: insurance, personal finance, dental care costs, credit cards, home services, and more. Our goal is to explain how to evaluate your options, not to tell you what to buy.

Editorial Standards

Our content follows a consistent standard. We explain the mechanics of a product in plain English. We show the math readers can replicate themselves. We present the honest case for a product alongside its limitations. We avoid absolute claims, guarantees, and outcome promises; costs, savings, and results vary by person, provider, and circumstance, so we use language like “may,” “typically,” and “depending on” deliberately.

The Editorial and Paid Content Firewall

Advertisers and affiliate partners do not review, approve, or influence the conclusions of our editorial content before publication. Paid or advertorial pages are clearly labeled, identify the sponsoring advertiser, and are maintained separately from editorial articles. Compensation may affect which offers appear and where, as described in our Advertiser Disclosure, but it does not change what our editorial content says.

Sourcing and Accuracy

We aim to cite primary and authoritative sources for factual claims, including government agencies, regulators, and industry data. Pricing and rate information changes frequently; where we cite specific figures, we date them, and readers should verify current terms directly with providers.

Corrections

If you find an error in our content, contact us through our Contact page. We review correction requests and update articles when a factual error is confirmed, noting significant updates on the article.

What We Are Not

ConsumersWeek content is educational. It is not financial, insurance, legal, medical, or dental advice, and it is not a substitute for guidance from a licensed professional who knows your situation.
